One month of school is done, and you know what that means!
It’s time for a change of season. The weather is getting cooler, the leaves are
starting to fall, and so many good things are just around the corner. Here is a
list of 5 reasons why I’m glad it’s fall.
1. Sweaters and boots
I love sweaters and boots. I always feel more comfy when I
have a cardigan on and a sweater is an easy way to make myself look
put-together. Some of my sweaters are warmer than my sweatshirts, and that’s
always a plus as the daytime temperatures start to cool down. And boots are
easy to slip on and look cute with any outfit and fit thicker socks than my Converse.
(I really enjoy this season except for the falling temperatures). Sweaters and
boots pretty much sum up fall fashion and help us stay warm.
2. Closer to holidays
Fall means it’s almost Halloween, which means it’s almost
Thanksgiving, which means it’s almost Christmas. For a lot of us, myself
included, the holiday season is enjoyed more than summertime. Getting to see
family and friends and the overall air of kindness and cheer is enough to
balance out all the snow that’s coming our way. Halloween gives us all a day of
silly fun and Thanksgiving gives us all a day of food. We get some
well-deserved breaks in our semester which double as time to get caught up on
homework and to gear up for finals. The heat of summer is a fair trade for the
start of the holiday season.
3. Leaves
As my mom would say, “I love living in a place where I can
watch the seasons change”. Fall leaves are pretty, there’s no question about
it. Even though the light brush of green after a cold winter in early spring is
a sight to behold, getting to the winter is rather poetic as well. So many
colors exist, greens fading to reds and yellows, even though they eventually
all die and turn brown. Plus, they’re really fun to step on and crunch!
4. TV show premieres
The long wait of summer is over and fresh seasons are just
ready to be premiered. New stories, new characters, even new shows you are
trying out for the first time or starting for their first season; everything is
new and fun and well worth the summer hiatus. Springtime premieres are one
thing, but fall is usually more exciting. I’m even willing to wait a week
between episodes and transition out of my binge-watching mindset because I want
to support my favorite shows.
5. The fact of poor air conditioning in the music
basement won’t be much of an issue anymore (AKA it’s not hot).
My fellow music people get this. Gone are the days of steps
being damp with humidity or just feeling blah in the ensemble room. Before we
know it, we’ll be shivering at 8AM, but for now, I’ll take it. This was a hot
summer, and I’m glad to have a break.
Enjoy the change of season, but don’t forget about what’s
right around the corner!
